Naga, my 10-year-old Labrador Retriever and I walk every day, regardless of the weather or where we might be.
Sometimes our outings end up becoming adventures or evolve into other activities. Since I enjoy foraging for medicinal or edible wild plants, I’m always on the lookout.
This hike in the Oregon high desert became a foraging expedition when I discovered a patch of mullein. Mullein is a very useful medicinal plant. I brew tea with it, and the mixture helps relieve the ache in my left thumb joint.
Mullein may even be valuable for treating symptoms of COVID.
Never harvest, touch or go near wild plants you can’t positively identify. My go-to book for wild plant ID is The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies
