Editor’s Note: Fried pies are a delicious, traditional dish in the Southern United States. The small, individually-sized pies can be made with a fruit filling, or with meat or seafood. The Farmers Market near where I live in Brandon, Mississippi has frozen, made-from-scratch pies, and we frequently have them for a quick, delicious dinner on busy nights.

Tipper Pressley of the excellent “Blind Pig and Acorn” website demonstrates how to make them in this video.

Tipper does a great job. I really enjoy the down home feel of the blog. Makes me feel like I know everybody.

Very Nice! Thank you for both recipes. Growing up in Texas we would make homemade peach fried pies.
I will have to try your Grandmother’s “Fried” Pies – Such a sweet story!
Thank you for sharing your History of the Appalachia – Such a Blessing!
