I’ve carried a pocket survival kit for years, and have never had occasion to use it in a survival situation. I hope I never need to!
But after I got separated from all my gear a few years back, when my canoe dumped in a rapids, I got serious about finding a way to carry some bare minimum survival tools conveniently.
I’ve carried the Altoids tin kit in the video for several years, and the contents are constantly being improved and refined. One frequent question is: What exactly do you carry in your kit?
So here it is. I warn everyone: This should not be your primary survival kit: it should be carried on your person in addition to a full-blown set of wilderness survival gear that starts with the Ten Essentials.
