I lived in Campbells Swamp about 30 years ago, and never got over the natural beauty, and the down home feel of being there. Most evenings after work, I’d head out for a walk. I might go deer or squirrel hunting, or fishing in the neighbor’s pond. Or I might just wander. When my house mate came home and saw my car, and no dogs around, he knew I was out rambling.
My career path took me to Washington D.C, then Boise, Idaho. My family ended up in Bend, Oregon, where we’ve lived for 20 years. Over the years, I’ve returned to the swamp to visit, hunt and enjoy. To me, coming back to Campbells Swamp is coming home. Here are a few images, accompanied by an old song played on my great-grandfather’s harmonica.
