Boy Scout Troop 73 Ultralight Alcohol Stove Project

Posted on November 22nd, 2009 by Leon in Boy Scouts

This stove design is absolute simplicity and well within the skill levels of virtually anyone. I was able to make one on my first try using only my Leatherman. Scouts in Troop 18, in Bend, Oregon, were all able to complete this project with a minimum of help. The stoves work very well, are safe to operate and are a creative way to recycle aluminum cans!

The stoves work really well, and are easy to make, as long as you get the Safeway brand ginger ale. Other pop cans will work, but the ginger ale can eliminates the need for measuring.

I liked the can stove idea. I will try it with my son, who is also a boyscout.
